When every form of perspective in society seems to be in need, more and more beacons seem to appear around us to tell us which direction we should or should not go, regarding public order and free space. Exit is an interactive installation artwork in which established expectations in the context of self-evident everyday applications is the essence. An area is created in which choices seem more arbitrary than they are, and at the same time vice versa. In what amount do we live in an structured world and in what amount do we not? And in what amount do we observe the difference? [1]
“With more than a hundred participants, this ninth edition of Big Art is larger than the previous one. On display are, among other things, the ice paintings by Daan den Houter, which mark the passage of time while melting, and Sjimmie Veenhuis made a striking fence. The works of art all respond to the location where Big Art is taking place for the fourth time: the former Bijlmerbajs. The bare, concrete spaces where detainees and guards used to walk around are perfect for this XL category of works of art.” [1]
